GEORGE TOWN, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- Fifteen crew members of the Royal Malaysian Navy's (RMN) vessel, KLD Tunas Samudera (KLD TSA), today visited the People's Liberation Army (PLA) navy ship, Po Lang, docking at the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) here.

According to RMN's Facebook page, the executive visit, led by KLD TSA Commanding Officer Commander Azmi Abu Zarin, was one of the activities carried out during Po Lang's operational visit to Malaysia from Oct 23 to 26.

"The Commanding Officer of Po Lang, Commander Ma Wenyong, and his crew welcomed the arrival of the KLD TSA crew.

"The visit began with a briefing on the Upper Deck, followed by a session that included sharing experiences, knowledge about maritime affairs and sailing, as well as exchanging views on training management aboard the vessel," read the post.

It said that today's visit is also believed to open opportunities for more coordinated future collaboration in sailing training, promote harmony and ongoing commitment between the two navies, and strengthen Malaysia-China diplomatic ties.

According to the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, Po Lang, currently on an ocean-going training and visit mission, arrived at SPCT for a three-day technical stop.

Previously, the Russian Navy's Pacific Fleet, consisting of the corvettes Gromkiy, Rezkiy, and Aldar Tsydenzhapov, along with the support vessel Pecheng, reportedly docked at SPCT from Oct 14 to 17. Meanwhile, Chinese naval ships Qi Jiguang and the JinggangShan 999 from Zhanjiang, China, made a three-day goodwill visit to Malaysia, docking at SPCT from Oct 5 to 8.
