GEORGE TOWN, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) of Penang is intensifying its campaigns and programmes at all schools in the state to provide exposure at the grassroots level regarding the dangers of corruption.

Its director, Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah believes that continuous early exposure to the corruption menace can keep the public away from committing the offence.

"The Penang MACC is carrying out various anti-corruption programmes at schools, especially primary schools as we want to educate from the grassroots level about the evils of corruption and instil a sense of disdain towards bribery.

"We will then carry out programmes at the varsity level, such as the Student Anti-Corruption Force, which is a platform or initiative that can help us provide continuous exposure to the students, who are our future leaders,” he said.

He told reporters this after officiating the launch of the MADANI Governance Strengthening and Its Impact on Society Forum organised by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) at Auditorium Murad Md Noor Sains@USM Bukit Jambul near here today.

The forum was also attended by Corruption Perception Index Special Task Force and MACC Operational Review Panel member Dr Mazlan Ahmad, Malaysian Corruption Watch deputy president 2 Datuk Dr G.P. Doraisamy and USM political sociology director Prof Datuk Dr P. Sivamurugan.
