KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri R. Ramanan was given the mandate to address questions and issues related to Indian community affairs and the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) during the winding-up session of the Supply Bill (Budget) 2025 debate in the Dewan Rakyat today.
In a statement today, Ramanan said this decision was made at a special meeting last week, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which included himself, MITRA management and several Members of Parliament representing the Indian community.
The meeting discussed views and ideas to further empower the Indian community.
“The Prime Minister has also directed the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) to coordinate and increase programmes related to the Indian community.
“For this purpose, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri R. Ramanan is entrusted to oversee and ensure that, among other things, the allocations in Budget 2025 for the community achieve their goals,” the statement said.
