KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) --World leaders offered congratulations to Republican Donald Trump after he claimed victory in the United States (US) presidential election, marking a historic political comeback four years after leaving the White House.
They pledged to work together moving forward.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer congratulated Trump on his 'historic election victory' and look forward to work with him in the years ahead.
“As the closet of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise.
“From growth and security to innovation and tech, I know that the UK-US special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come,” he said in a statement posted on X.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also shared his congratulatory message on X.
"I congratulate my friend Donald Trump, who won the presidential election in the US after a great struggle and was re-elected," Erdogan said on X, Anadolu Agency reported.
In this new era, Erdogan said he hopes Turkish-US relations will grow stronger and that regional and global crises and wars, especially the one in Palestine and the Russia-Ukraine war, will come to an end.
"I believe that more efforts will be made for a fairer world. I hope the elections will be auspicious for the friendly and allied people of the US and all humanity," he added.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Trump on X, stating: “Heartiest congratulations, my friend @realDonaldTrump, on your historic election victory.”
“As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability and prosperity,” he wrote.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Trump over his “impressive election victory”.
He recalled his meeting with Trump in September when they discussed in detail the Ukraine-US Strategic partnership, the Victory Plan, and ways to put an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine.
“I appreciate President Trump’s commitment to the “peace through strength” approach in global affairs. This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer. I am hopeful that we will put it into action together.
“We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership. We rely on continued strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States,” he wrote on X.
French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Trump on his presidential election victory, and affirmed he is “ready to work together as we did for four years”.
“With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity," Macron said on X.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he is looking forward to working closely with the incoming administration.
“Congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his historic victory for a second term! I look forward to working closely with the incoming Administration to further strengthen and broaden the Pakistan-US partnership,” he wrote on X.
Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu said he is looking forward to strengthening Maldives-US cooperation, address mutual challenges and work towards advancing global peace and prosperity
“Maldives and the United States share a strong partnership based on mutual respect, goodwill, and understanding," he said in a post on X while congratulating Trump.
The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, said he looks forward "to working together again”.
“Congratulations to President-Elect Donald Trump on winning the US presidential election. I wish you all the best during your term and look forward to working together again to strengthen our strategic relationship and partnership, and to advancing our shared efforts in promoting security and stability both in the region and globally,” he wrote.
Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has congratulated Donald Trump on his US presidential election victory.
Wong, who is also the Finance Minister, said he is looking forward to taking the US-Singapore partnership to even greater heights.
“I am confident that the US will continue to grow and lead globally. We hope to welcome you back to Singapore soon,” he posted on X on Wednesday.
Thai Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, congratulated Trump and Senator JD Vance for the victory in the US Presidential Election.
“I look forward to working with you to advance Thailand-US long-standing alliance for the benefits of our peoples and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region,” she wrote on X.
Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Trump on his remarkable political comeback and victory in the US presidential election.
In his post on Facebook and X, Anwar said this new chapter brings renewed opportunities, and Malaysia is ready to move forward with optimism, collaboration and shared purpose.
"We look forward to working closely with the incoming president to foster mutual benefits for the people of both our nations," he wrote.
