JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has once again achieved a 100 per cent graduate employability rate, leading the way in high-income and highly skilled job placements for its graduates.

UTM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail said data from the Graduate Tracer Study System (SKPG) by the Higher Education Ministry (KPT) shows a significant increase in the percentage of UTM’s first-degree graduates securing premium salaries.

“The latest SKPG data for UTM’s 68th Convocation Ceremony (MK68) this year shows an increase to 21.6 per cent of first-degree graduates in premium-salary positions, up from 18.4 per cent in last year’s MK67,” he told a press conference today.

He was responding to recent Statistics Department findings showing that 1.95 million Malaysian university graduates are employed in lower-skilled sectors that do not fully utilise their qualifications.

Ahmad Fauzi said UTM's success is a testament to the university's commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also equipped with the relevant skills and values to meet the demands of a progressive job market.

He said 22.6 per cent of UTM’s first-degree graduates are currently employed by multinational corporations (MNCs) that operate at a global standard, according to the latest data for the MK68 cohort.

Looking ahead, he said UTM’s vision for 2030 aims to develop "Tier 1 Premium Graduates," who will secure positions with a premium income of over RM4,000 in MNCs and government-linked companies (GLCs).

“Graduates from UTM are not only waiting for job opportunities but also creating their own career paths,” he said.
