InfoBencana JKM 3.0 App Simplifies Registration For Flood Victims

KUANTAN, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Residents in flood-prone areas are encouraged to download the InfoBencana JKM 3.0 app to stay updated on nationwide disaster information and streamline registration at temporary relief centres.

Deputy Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said the upgraded app, managed by the Social Welfare Department (JKM), allows flood victims to register directly without the need to queue at relief centres.

Launched in August, the app proved effective during recent floods in Raub and Lipis, reducing congestion and long wait times for registration.

“Previously, flood victims had to register manually at the relief centre, often facing long queues. If a centre was full, JKM staff had to find alternatives. With this app, victims can scan a QR code to register and check available relief centres, making the process faster and more convenient,” Noraini said.

She shared this during a visit to the Pahang State Disaster Relief Supply Depot today, accompanied by Pahang JKM director Khairul Amri Ahmad.

Noraini highlighted JKM’s readiness for the Northeast Monsoon, with 8,417 temporary relief centres registered nationwide and 563 forward bases stocked with food and essential supplies to ensure flood victims are well-supported.

In addition, 6,073 counsellors, including JKM staff and registered volunteers, are on standby to provide emotional support, especially for those facing financial and psychological challenges due to the floods.

"Floods can cause severe emotional distress, including depression from the loss and damage to property. Therefore, counsellors are crucial in helping victims cope during these difficult times," she said.
