2TM: PDRM Distribute Special Discount Coupons For Traffic Summons Payments

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) distributed special discount coupons offering up to 60 per cent off on traffic summons payments during the Two Years of MADANI Government Programme (2TM) and the 2024 National Convention on Public Service Reform held here.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the coupons can be used for online payments, helping save time and reducing congestion at physical counters.

"Payments can be made via the MyBayar PDRM app or the website at https://mybayar.rmp.gov.my/en/main, but recipients need to visit the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre to obtain the discount coupons.

"The 60 per cent discount offer ends this evening, and I urge the public to take advantage of the final hours to settle their traffic summonses, including collecting the discount coupons, which are only valid today," he told Bernama.

Mohd Yusri said the police collected RM2.1 million in summons payments on both the first and second days of 2TM, with the total collection expected to be announced tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a visitor, Saidah Muhd, 35, expressed relief as she completed her payment process in less than 15 minutes using the MyBayar PDRM app after obtaining a discount coupon.

"Initially, I was worried that paying summonses would take a long time since discount counters at such events are usually overcrowded.

"However, I changed my mind after learning about the special coupons for easy online payments, as shared by others on social media," she said.

In addition to the coupons, PDRM also provided dedicated counters for senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

A retiree, M. Nathan, 68, used the service to settle his and his son’s summonses, which had been outstanding since 2022.

He commended the discount initiative, describing it as an opportunity for people to avoid being blacklisted due to traffic offences. He said the discount was a timely measure as many had not yet received their salaries.

"The payment process went smoothly, although I opted for the physical counter. The police offered to assist with online payments, but I preferred handling it in person to settle my son's summonses," he said, adding that it took nearly two hours to complete the process.

Since the first day of the 2TM event on Friday, PDRM’s summons payment counters have been among the most popular, with people starting to queue as early as 7 am, two hours before the counters opened.
