GUANGZHOU, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- TD Furniture Group, a leading Malaysian manufacturer of sofas and cabinets, is set to ramp up production by as much as 30 per cent, a move poised to add approximately RM7.0 million to its bottom line next year.
Executive director Wong Kok Hoon said the target follows the company’s shift towards artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, which are expected to be fully implemented by next year.
“In addition, we will vigorously expand our offerings, extending beyond showroom sales to include home renovation services. We are confident we will meet this target,” he told Bernama.
He made these comments during the visit of the Kinta Small and Medium Business Sustainability Association (KPKS) Perak group to China from Nov 23 to 28. The visit aims to explore cooperation opportunities with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country.
Wong, who also serves as Deputy Secretary-General of the Malaysian Furniture Council, said the adoption of smart factory technology, incorporating Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) methods, is set to add value to the TD Furniture brand, particularly in customer service.
“We are using AI to streamline customer orders, design processes and production, allowing us to increase output. We will focus on the local market, aiming to reduce reliance on manpower and cut down on the hiring of foreign workers,” he added.
Acknowledging the company’s slow growth since the COVID-19 pandemic - which impacted the export segment and increased global competition - Wong said the technology transformation is vital to the company’s long-term viability.
TD Furniture, which has 10 showroom branches in Penang and Perak, also exports five per cent of its products to Singapore and the United States, a 50 per cent decline compared to five years ago.
Founded in 2002, TD Furniture is the largest furniture manufacturer in Perak, renowned for its innovative designs.
