KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- Over 5,500 participants are expected to join the fun run, dubbed Larian Budaya Antarabangsa Duyong Kita 2024, slated for Dec 22 in Melaka, in conjunction with Visit Melaka Year 2024.
Duyong assemblyman Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem said the event is organised to encourage society to adopt a healthy lifestyle through physical activities, while also fostering stronger family bonds among participants.
“Besides being a family fun time, this event is also hoped to have a positive impact in showcasing the traditions and culture of Melaka,” he said when featured in Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia programme today.
Mohd Noor Helmy said the 5.5-kilometer fun run, which will start at 7.30 am at the Tun Fatimah Stadium in Bukit Serindit and ends at the same location, will have a superhero and traditional costume theme.
He said apart from the locals, participants registered so far also include those from Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore and Bangladesh, with the youngest being an eight-month-old baby, while the eldest is 80 years old.
Various side activities have also been lined up for the day, including a lucky draw offering prizes such as a motorcycle, electrical appliances, as well as solar panels and installation.
The participation fee is only RM10 and registration can be made online via Larian Budaya Antarabangsa Duyong Kita 2024, social media platforms.
