Bernama's Deepavali Dinner A Celebration Of Diversity - Wong

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- The National News Agency of Malaysia (Bernama) feasted about 80 of its staff at a Deepavali Dinner in conjunction with the Festival of Lights celebration at a hotel here tonight. 

Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai said the celebration was meaningful in celebrating Bernama's staff and appreciating their contributions.

He hoped that such festivals would continue to celebrate diversity and strengthen relationships among the staff.

Also present were Senior Private Secretary to Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, Datuk B. Anbumani, Bernama chief executive officer Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj. 

Nur-ul Afida said the celebration was held as a sign of support and recognition from the Bernama management to the staff, especially for those who are Hindus.

"No matter how small or big the ceremony is, we try to offer our appreciation to the staff, especially to those who are Hindus and after this we will also hold (the function) for Christian staff.

"So I appreciate the staff who took the time to come for this event, some came after duty and some took leave to celebrate this celebration together," she said. 

She also expressed her appreciation to Ramanan for his contribution and support for event. 

The event, which was organised by Bernama staff who are Hindus, was enlivened with various activities such as singing performances, dances and quiz to strengthen the relationship among staff.
