NGO Lodges Police Report Against Blogger For Allegedly Defaming PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- The Sekretariat Gerak Gempur Media Sosial Rakyat (SGGMSR), an organisation comprising 50 non-governmental organisations (NGOs), has lodged a police report against a controversial blogger accused of defaming Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding investments in several states and tarnishing the reputation of the MADANI government.

SGGMSR chairman Mustapa Mansor said the blogger, through a video shared on social media, accused Anwar of sabotaging Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor over investments in the state.

According to Mustapa, the blogger also alleged that the Prime Minister had threatened investors to avoid investing in Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis.

“He (the blogger) has made baseless assumptions, false perceptions, and defamatory claims about PMX, particularly regarding investments, insinuating bribery, embezzlement, and personal interests, which are slanderous and inciteful without any evidence.

“We urge the authorities to take action against this blogger,” he said after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters here today.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman confirmed receiving the report.

The 11-minute 23-second video allegedly uploaded by the blogger claimed that Anwar attempted to sabotage the Kedah PN chairman by threatening investors to withdraw from Kedah at the behest of the Prime Minister.

This followed Muhammad Sanusi's allegations of a plot to derail private investments in Kedah, although he has yet to reveal the alleged perpetrators.
