KANGAR, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has received RM23.6 million in research funding for this year, making it the highest amount received by the university since its establishment in 2002.
Its vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Zaliman Sauli said the amount included almost RM14 million in government funds, RM8 million in industry funds, more than RM1 million in international funds and about R600,000 in university funds.
"UniMAP also recorded one of the highest receipts for the 2024 Research Grant Scheme under the Industry Matching Programme with a total of RM6.5 million in Ministry (Higher Education) funds and RM1.5 million in industry funds, making the total funds amount to RM8 million," he said in a statement today.
Zaliman said a UniMAP researcher, Prof Dr Azremi Abdullah Al Hadi, has been recognised as one of Malaysia's Top Research Scientist (TRSM) 2024 by the Malaysian Academy of Sciences.
"In addition, six UniMAP researchers consisting of staff and one postgraduate student, have been listed among the World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University for the Career - Long & Single Year Citation Impact 2024 category.
"This success shows that UniMAP researchers are not only recognised at the national level but also internationally," he said.
