ROMPIN, Dec 16 (Bernama) – Eight sports complexes in Pahang are being upgraded to meet the needs of athletes and youth in the state, said Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim.

He said the initiative reflects the commitment of the MADANI government in implementing strategic efforts related to youth and sports development in Malaysia.

“There are eight (projects) in total being upgraded in Pahang. Among them are the upgrading of the Pahang Sports Complex (Sukpa) in Indera Mahkota, Kuantan, at a cost of RM25 million, which is expected to be completed by May next year.

“Additionally, the Indera Mahkota Hockey Stadium is being upgraded at a cost of RM3.5 million, and the pitch  at Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan is being replaced for RM500,000, as previously announced by the Ministry of Youth and Sports,” he told reporters after officiating the completion ceremony of the Rompin Kompleks Rakan Muda (KRM) project.

Commenting on the Rompin KRM upgrade project, Adam Adli stated that it involved an allocation of RM15.2 million, covering two components - upgrading the sports complex and constructing a wave breaker.

“We hope this upgrade will benefit not only the local youth but also visitors to Rompin.

“It is understood that this area (Rompin) has various attractions, including a popular fishing festival. Visitors can make use of the facilities at KRM in the future,” he said.

The KRM upgrade project, which began in March 2022, included constructing a meeting room, upgrading futsal courts, refurbishing the main hall, and enhancing the scuba diving pool.

The second component, the construction of a 500-meter wave breaker, began in August 2022 and is managed by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS). This aims to prevent coastal erosion near the complex.
