KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- The Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme (PJRM) in Terengganu has achieved sales exceeding RM39 million, through 854 events held this year.

According to the Terengganu branch director of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), Saharuddin Mohd Kia, the programme encompassed three models: 366 events at premises, 486 mobile sales, and two open PJRM initiatives, across eight Parliamentary constituencies.

He shared that a total of 928,410 visitors, primarily from the B40 group, benefited from the programme.

“Feedback from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing hope that the government will continue the PJRM in the future.

“Participants, particularly from the B40 category, acknowledged that the programme significantly eased their financial burdens, especially on kitchen essentials, with prices discounted by up to 40 per cent compared with market rates,” he said, during the launch of the state-level 2024 Christmas Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP), at a shopping centre, here, today.

The event was officiated by the state Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Cooperatives, and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman, Ariffin Deraman.

In related developments, Saharuddin shared that the Terengganu branch of KPDN had conducted 48,697 operations across the state, from January to yesterday.

A total of 599 cases were successfully filed for various offences under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011; the Weights and Measures Act 1972; the Trade Descriptions Act 2011; and the Direct Sales and Anti-Pyramid Scheme Act 1993.

“A total of RM4 million in seizures was recorded, along with compound collections of RM268,200 this year,” he added.

Additionally, two court cases were successfully prosecuted, resulting in fines totalling RM102,500, for violations under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and the Consumer Protection Act 1999.
