Raja Of Perlis' Silver Jubilee Celebration Among Highlights Of 2025 State Tourism Calendar

KANGAR, Dec 27 (Bernama) -- The Silver Jubilee celebration on April 17, 2025, marking 25 years of Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail’s reign, is among 56 tourism events scheduled for next year, adding excitement to Visit Perlis Year 2024-2025.

State Tourism, Arts, Culture and Rural Development Committee chairman Abu Bakar Hamzah said that the International Kite Festival, which would see participation from 41 countries, was also on the Perlis 2025 tourism calendar.

“A total of 36 events have been organised by government departments and agencies, with another 20 by non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The Silver Jubilee celebration and the Citra Warna Kuala Perlis programme, in conjunction with the 82nd birthday of the Raja of Perlis, are set to be major attractions,” he told a press conference after unveiling the Perlis tourism calendar for 2025 today.

Abu Bakar said that the tourism event calendar would be available on the Tourism Perlis website, making it easier for tourism industry players to access information and assist people in planning their vacations.

“The state government will continue holding engagement sessions with industry players to promote Perlis as a major tourist destination,” he said, adding that annual Perlis state events such as the East Wind Festival, Kuala Perlis Water Festival, and Sunah Village were also included in the state tourism calendar.

According to Abu Bakar, the state government was targeting five million tourists to visit Perlis next year.

Meanwhile, he said the state government would introduce an initiative to promote lesser-known tourist spots in Perlis, such as Gunung Wang Raja and Kampung Wai, to attract more visitors in 2025.

Abu Bakar said that the promotion of tourism sites in the state would be done comprehensively through collaboration between the state government and NGOs.
