Malay Chamber Of Commerce Wants G1-G7 Contractors To Participate In Bandar Malaysia Development

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 (Bernama) -- The Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (DPMM) will establish a Malay construction consortium comprising G1 to G7 class contractors to be involved in the development of 20.23 hectares (50 acres) in Bandar Malaysia gazetted as Malay reserved land.

Its president Norsyahrin Hamidon said DPMM also wants its members to be involved.

"I have voiced DPMM's intention to the government to establish a Class G1 to G7 Malay construction consortium to group reputable contractors to at least be involved in the 20.23-ha development gazetted as Malay reserved land by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"This is in line with the DPMM’s MADANI Ekoniaga Gerakan 2025 programme, which among other things, brings together Malay entrepreneurs via consortium clusters nationwide to participate in mega projects in the country," he said in a statement today.

Recently, KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd (KLCCH) signed agreements with Bandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Bandar Malaysia Land Sdn Bhd to develop 196.67 ha (486 acres) there.

Bandar Malaysia is a large-scale mixed urban hub with residential, commercial, and transit-oriented properties and open spaces within walking distance of public transportation.

KLCCH will implement development based on commercial viability in the long term, the statement said.

"This development is planned as an international business hub and a liveable and inclusive city for the community," he said.

Norsyahrin said DPMM hopes more stakeholders will come forward to mobilise efforts so that more Malay reserved and heritage land can be developed in line with the current market value and needs.

At the tabling of Budget 2025 on Oct 18, 2024, Anwar said 20.23 ha will be allocated as Malay reserved land at the former Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base near Jalan Sungai Besi.
