KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- The public, particularly residents in flood-affected areas, have been urged to stay vigilant and adhere to the authorities’ instructions.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that personal and family safety should remain a priority amid the ongoing floods.

In a Facebook post today, Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, said that the country was facing weather forecasts predicting continuous rainfall due to a monsoon surge from Jan 15 to 18.

“The public is advised to obtain information and stay updated on the flood situation via the website publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my, Facebook: PubliclnfoBanjir, and Twitter @JPS_InfoBanjir.

“For weather-related information, the public can download the myCuaca application for the latest and authentic updates from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) and visit portalbencana.nadma.gov.my,” he said.

In the same post, Ahmad Zahid also shared an update on the flood situation in Johor, where 3,289 victims from 933 families have been evacuated to 35 relief centres.

“This situation not only involves Johor but also several other states, including Pahang, Terengganu, Perak, and Sarawak,” he said.
