More Than 51,000 Asnaf Benefit From MAIPs Cycling Programme Since 2013

KANGAR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- A total of 51,028 asnaf (those eligible to receive tithe) in Perlis have benefited from the State Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council’s (MAIPs) Peduli Cycling Programme through the disbursement of tithe amounting to RM33,195,600 since 2013.

MAIPs chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor said last year alone, 5,563 asnaf received tithe amounting to RM3,894,100.

He expressed pride in the dedication of the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail,  who is MAIPs president, in leading the cycling initiative and also acknowledged the strong support from various parties that contributed to the success of the programme.

"The Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail created history by leading the MAIPs Peduli Rides 111 times last year, bringing to a total of 978 rides since the initiative was started in 2013," he said in a statement today.

The statement was issued in conjunction with the opening of the 2025 MAIPs Peduli Cycling, held at Padang Katong, Kangar recently, during which Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra presented MAIPs donation to three asnaf, each receiving RM700 as well as MAIPs Peduli Kits consisting of essential items and rice.

The programme also involves close collaboration with mosque officials and committee members, as well as the Social Welfare Department (JKM), the State Education Department and the State Health Department.
