KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 (Bernama) -- Over 30,000 visitors are expected at the Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS) International Franchise Festival 2025 to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from Feb 7 to 9.
PERNAS chairman Datuk Hazimah Zainuddin said with a target sales transaction of over RM12 million, the inaugural event seeks to drive significant business potential and expansion in the franchise industry.
She added that the event will focus on the coffee and cafe sector, creating new opportunities, fostering franchising growth, and empowering aspiring entrepreneurs.
“The event will feature 19 international booths with entrepreneurs from Germany, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. A total of 68 brands will be showcased, including local and international businesses as well as government agencies. In total, there will be 119 booths at the event.
“Throughout the event, we expect a large number of visitors to be interested in entering the franchise business,” she said during a press conference at the PIFF 2025 pre-launch event at the Menara PERNAS here, today.
Meanwhile, Hazimah in her opening remarks said the PIFF 2025 incorporates ASEAN elements, with participation from coffee brands and buyers across ASEAN, reflecting Malaysia’s vision for inclusivity as ASEAN chair.
She said the event also aims to blend international insights with local expertise and this unique approach empowers participants to learn, adapt, innovate solutions and build mutually beneficial collaborations.
Among the key highlights of the event are networking and business-matching sessions, particularly among industry players in the coffee and cafe sector, as well as aspiring and established entrepreneurs.
“PIFF 2025 will also offer fun and exciting activities for the public, including e-sports games, latte art, barista competitions, coffee-based contests for children, a mini concert and busker performances. Our programmes and activities are tailored to engage people of all ages.
“I believe that participating in this festival will empower entrepreneurs to position their businesses for growth in a competitive landscape, while also providing an immersive experience for the public, especially coffee lovers,” she said.
Additionally, she said Malaysia’s branded coffee shop market grew by 28 per cent in 2023, reaching more than 3,330 outlets, according to data from World Coffee Portal.
“This rapid expansion was driven by an economy projected to have grown by 4 to 5 per cent last year. Whilst coffee takes ‘centre stage’, tea has not been forgotten with both caffeinated and non-caffeinated options gaining attention,” she said.
