NUREMBERG (Germany), Jan 24 (Bernama-dpa) -- German sportswear giant Adidas plans to adjust structures at its company headquarters in southern Germany and possibly also reduce the number of employees at the site by 5,800, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

A company spokeswoman said that figures could not be provided at the moment.

"However, we have found that our current corporate structures are too complex in a constantly changing world," the spokeswoman added.

Citing company insiders, Manager Magazin and other media reported earlier that 500 jobs at the site in Herzogenaurach could fall victim to the measures.

Adidas earns more than expected operationally

On Tuesday, Adidas released strong preliminary business figures for 2024, with sales up by 11 per cent to around €23.7 billion ($24.6 billion).

Adidas also performed better than expected with an operating profit of €1.3 billion.

Two years ago, former Puma CEO Björn Gulden took over as CEO of Adidas.
