No Price Increase For Petros LPG Across Sarawak

KUCHING, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- There will be no price increase for Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros) liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) across Sarawak despite supply disruptions caused by the recent floods in Bintulu.

Petros in a statement today said that the recent floods caused a landslide at the Pusaka Integrated Resources LPG Bottling Plant in Bintulu, temporarily halting the plant’s operations for the safety of the surrounding community.

It said to ensure continuous LPG supply for Sarawak’s northern region customers, Petros has activated its business continuity plan by sourcing LPG from Kuching and Sepanggar Bay in Sabah.

“The floods have affected key operational and transportation routes, delaying deliveries to parts of Sarawak.

“Petros is actively collaborating with relevant authorities, logistics partners, and local distributors to expedite restocking and deliveries, with the situation expected to be resolved as soon as safely possible,” the statement read.

Petros also assured customers that there is sufficient LPG cylinder volume to meet demand in Sarawak.

“We are also aware of misinformation circulating on social media, claiming that additional transportation costs are being passed down to customers. We would like to inform the public that this is untrue, as Petros is bearing all transportation costs to prevent any price increases,” the statement said.

To prevent exploitation of the situation, customers are encouraged to report any parties imposing additional charges to Petros Niaga’s Customer Service at 1300-88-2122 for immediate action.

“We urge the public to refrain from spreading false information and to avoid panic buying - purchase only what is necessary to ensure fair distribution for all,” it added.
