Decorated Floats Main Attraction At Harmony Parade

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Decorated floats highlighting the unique cultures of the country's diverse ethnicities will be the main attraction at the 2025 Harmony Parade at Dataran Merdeka on Feb 15 and 16.

The Ministry of National Unity, in a statement today, said the celebration would begin at 9 pm involving 600 participants from 10 ethnic groups, namely Malays, Indians, Chinese, Sabahans, Sarawakians, Orang Asli, Baba and Nyonya, Siamese, Chetties, and Javanese.

It said the participants would perform cultural performances and play musical instruments throughout the 1.6-kilometre parade from Dataran Merdeka, passing through Jalan Raja and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, ending the procession at Dataran Merdeka.

Harmony Parade is a new initiative by the ministry to strengthen unity and harmony by showcasing the diversity, uniqueness, and rich heritage of Malaysian communities.

It is also part of the 2025 Federal Territory Day and World Interfaith Harmony Week, now rebranded as the Federal Territory Harmony Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, its minister, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, said in the same statement that the programme could serve as a platform for fostering unity.

"Unity and social cohesion are the main objectives of the MADANI Government. Therefore, the implementation of such programmes can provide opportunities for the community to recognise the diversity in religions and cultures, leading to the shaping of a united society that practices the concepts of Understand, Respect, and Accept," he added.
