IPOH, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The Perak branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) seized 763.8 kilogrammes (kg) of wheat flour and 1,728 kg of sugar worth RM7,192.80 from a business premises in Taman Jubilee, here yesterday for exceeding the permitted storage limit.
Perak KPDN director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said the operation, conducted at 11:30 am, followed a public complaint about purchasing restrictions on 1kg packets of cooking oil at the premises.
“KPDN personnel, disguised as regular customers, carried out a test purchase under Ops Sabur and found no conditions were imposed on the sale of 1kg packet cooking oil.
“Further inspection, carried out in full uniform, confirmed that the premises held a valid Controlled Scheduled Articles (CSA) Licence, which allows a maximum storage of 500kg each for cooking oil, sugar, and wheat flour,” he said in a statement today.
However, when the owner was asked to declare the stock, it was discovered that sugar and wheat flour were stored beyond the permitted limit.
As a result, enforcement action was taken, and the excess stock was confiscated," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
