NILAI, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- The Generasi MADANI 2025 Carnival organised by the Ministry of Education (MoE) provides a platform for students of MoE institutions to strengthen the character development of the younger generation to be more progressive and competitive.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the carnival, held today, also aimed to foster and strengthen unity among the younger generation of the various races in the country.

“Generasi MADANI is a generation that is ready to face global challenges with a progressive and competitive mindset. We want to produce a generation that has sustainability, well-being, creativity, respect, confidence and compassion.

“The concept of Generasi MADANI is in line with the goals of the National Philosophy of Education (FPK), Rukun MADANI and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG),” she told reporters after the launching of the Generasi MADANI MoE 2025 at Dewan Tuanku Canselor Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) here.

Also present were MoE secretary-general Datuk Ruji Ubi and MoE director-general Azman Adnan.

Fadhlina said the goal of the programme is to emphasise holistic human development, which includes knowledge and skills, morals, manners and social responsibility among the younger generation, especially school pupils and students from MoE institutions.

She said the carnival also provides the best platform for the younger generation to showcase their talents, increase self-confidence and build positive networks with one another.

“Various interesting activities are provided to allow them to learn through experience, such as Visual Arts and Caricature Exhibition; Interactive and Fun Games; Education and Volunteering Exhibition; and a meet-and-greet session with the Education Minister,” she said.

The carnival also held the 2025 Science, Technology and Engineering Innovation Competition (PISTEK) for secondary school students nationwide to showcase their innovative projects in fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), data science and technological design and engineering.

The six best PISTEK teams - students from Catholic High School (Selangor); SMK Jalan Empat (Selangor); SMK Sultan Ismail (Johor); Kolej Melayu Kuala Kangsar (Perak); Sekolah Sains Sultan Muhammad Jiwa (Kedah); and Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah (Putrajaya) - have been selected to participate in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2025 in Columbus, Ohio, the United States, from May 10-16.

ISEF is the world's largest STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) research competition for high school students, bringing together nearly 2,000 finalists from more than 60 countries, regions and areas.
