ANKARA, March 4 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held official talks with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Riyadh on Monday evening, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.

The meeting marked Aoun’s first foreign visit since assuming office in January.

According to the Saudi Foreign Ministry, Mohammed received Aoun at the Royal Court in Al-Yamama Palace, where an official reception ceremony was held.

The two leaders then held a discussion session, though no further details were provided.

Aoun's visit follows an eight-year hiatus in official Lebanese visits to Saudi Arabia. It is part of efforts by Lebanese authorities to restore ties with Arab nations and strengthen Beirut-Riyadh relations.

Aoun, a former army chief, was elected president on January 9, ending more than two years of political deadlock.

Last month, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam formed Lebanon’s first government since 2022 after securing votes from 95 members of the 128-seat parliament.
