PUTRAJAYA, March 6 (Bernama) -- Multimedia University (MMU) will establish the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence Engineering (FAIE) in mid-2025, transforming its current Faculty of Engineering (FOE) to strengthen AI-driven education and research.
MMU President and Chief Executive Officer, Prof Datuk Dr. Mazliham Mohd Suud, said the move is a strategic step to align the university’s programmes with global technological advancements and industry needs.
“AI is revolutionising every aspect of our lives, and we want our students to be at the heart of this transformation,” he said at MMU’s breaking of fast event with the media here today.
Mazliham said FAIE will introduce a new Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Applied AI) programme, a three-year full-time course starting with the July 2025 intake.
Existing Bachelor of Engineering programmes will also be enhanced with AI components to equip students with advanced technological skills.
Applied AI uses technologies like machine learning and automation to solve real-world challenges, including smart healthcare, autonomous vehicles, intelligent farming and personalised digital assistants.
FAIE will feature state-of-the-art laboratory facilities designed to foster creativity and collaboration between students, researchers and industry partners, ensuring MMU graduates remain competitive in the evolving digital economy.
