KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysians must not allow racial and religious differences to cause disunity, said Foundation for the Development of Tamil Schools in Malaysia president Datuk T. Murugiah.
He said the country is uniquely built on racial, cultural, and religious diversity.
“This diversity is not a weakness but a strength that makes the nation harmonious and progressive.
"Therefore, it is the responsibility of every citizen to ensure that racial unity continues to be strengthened for the next generation’s future," he said in a statement today.
He added that all parties should embrace a more mature approach by respecting one another's beliefs and cultures.
"Tolerance, mutual respect, and understanding among one another are the key factors in building a united society," he said.
The MIC vice-president also stressed the need for individuals to reject any provocation that could disrupt unity, whether it occurs on social media, in the workplace, or everyday life.
He added that racial tensions should be addressed thoughtfully through open and respectful dialogue.
Murugiah urged the public to prioritise national development efforts, including education, the economy, and social welfare.
"Let us work together to build a more advanced and prosperous nation, irrespective of racial or religious background.
"May this spirit of unity continue to be preserved and become a valuable legacy for future generations," he said.
