MOSCOW, March 11 (Bernama-TASS) -- The Telegram platform has become the leading source of information in Russia, Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at the Modern Media conference at the Higher School of Economics, the Russian News Agency (TASS) reported.
"The way people perceive information flows is changing," Peskov said, and asked rhetorically where Russians get the news first.
"What sources did we hear about drones from today?" Peskov asked. "We didn't rush to turn on the TV - we grabbed our phones and opened Telegram. And Telegram is the primary source of information in our country."
"The nature of information flows is changing," he said.
"Telegram is not something that encourages longreads. This is not something that encourages analysis. And since this is not something that predisposes to analysis, there is less demand for people who examine the situation. This means that people who provide short, simple, non-creative information are in more demand.
"We have to keep in mind all the emerging trends, we need to analyse them to try to shift all the budding trends just a little bit towards more substantive content," Peskov concluded.
