KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) needs to review its skill courses and training to meet the needs of the industry, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said KBS also needs to ensure that management functions efficiently without being wasteful and to create a more dynamic and inclusive work culture for youth.

"During the Joint Meeting with the KBS Management Leadership, various key issues were discussed to ensure improvements in policies and mechanisms that are relevant to the trend of digitalisation, technology and global economic changes," he said in a Facebook post today.

Earlier, the Prime Minister attended the Ihya Ramadan Programme organised by KBS in collaboration with the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) of the Prime Minister's Department and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) at Menara KBS, Putrajaya.

Also present were Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, her deputy Adam Adli Abd Halim, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and director-general of Public Service Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz as well as nearly 400 KBS staff.

According to the post, the Prime Minister said he was deeply moved and excited when he set foot in Menara KBS for the first time.

He said his presence at KBS recalled the stories and experiences of 42 years ago when he was entrusted to serve as the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in 1983.

"It is still fresh in my memory how youth officers in the districts worked with determination despite facing challenges and constraints," he said.
