SHAH ALAM, March 12 (Bernama) -- Kota Anggerik assemblyman Mohd Najwan Halimi has officially announced his candidacy for the position of Shah Alam Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) division chief in next month’s party elections.
The Selangor Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman said his decision aims to strengthen Shah Alam PKR and better serve its 15,000 members, including those in the Batu Tiga state constituency, with a fresh and dynamic leadership approach.
“Shah Alam PKR was once a respected and strong division, seen as a key stronghold in Selangor.
“Now, we see the need for a new leadership lineup that is more energetic and effective in serving both the people and the party,” he told newsmen after attending the Kota Anggerik breaking of fast and International Women's Day Celebration at the MBSA Convention Centre here today.
The Shah Alam PKR division chief position is currently held by Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail, who has confirmed her intention to defend the seat. She is also reportedly set to challenge Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek for the PKR Women's Chief position in the party’s central elections this May.
Mohd Najwan said he has informed and received the blessing of Selangor PKR chairman and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, as well as positive responses from several other party leaders.
