KUCHING, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has asserted that any viral allegations linking the corporation to issues of distribution, rental, or misuse of houses under the Sri Pertiwi Housing Programme are untrue, baseless, and misleading to the public.
The HDC Public Relations Section, in a statement today, clarified that to date, the Sri Pertiwi Housing Programme projects involving HDC through joint-venture collaborations are still in the construction stage.
The programme is an affordable housing initiative by the Sarawak Government targeted at those with a monthly income between RM4,000 and RM10,000.
“HDC emphasises that the implementation of the Sri Pertiwi Housing Programme is open for development by either the government or the private sector, subject to the policies and approval of the Sarawak Government,” the statement said.
Previously, allegations went viral on social media claiming that the distribution of these houses was unfair, particularly to first-time homebuyers in the state, alleging that some buyers purchased the units for rental purposes.
In relation to this, HDC views the spread of unverified information seriously and urges the public to stop and refrain from further circulating such claims.
The corporation also advised the public to obtain official information by contacting HDC at 082-444381 or by visiting the official website at hdc.sarawak.gov.my.
