KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- A total of 1,821 Form Five students, from 10 secondary schools in Bandar Tun Razak, received school aid contributions, including RM100 in cash, today.
The Prime Minister’s wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bandar Tun Razak, said the aid was not merely about providing school assistance, but also served as a form of moral support to help students be better prepared, physically, mentally and emotionally, to face academic challenges.
“The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination is an initial step towards a broader future, whether in continuing education, skills training or entering the workforce.
“As an MP, I am committed to continuing to support the development of education in my constituency, including assisting students in their academic pursuits, and ensuring that all children in Bandar Tun Razak have the opportunity to gain knowledge, receive academic guidance, motivation and student welfare assistance,” she said.
She said this when officiating the Ceria Ke Sekolah programme for Form Five students from day schools in the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency, which was also attended by the Prime Minister’s Political Secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin, here, today.
Meanwhile, Azman, in his speech, said that the programme, which was held for the second time in the parliamentary constituency, aimed to help ease the burden on families, while also instilling a sense of community awareness, care and concern for the less fortunate.
“All students will receive a school bag engraved with the student’s and class names, along with a school badge logo which will be used by all students while at school.
“Hopefully, the cash contribution will be used to meet school-related needs, such as stationery, books and other essentials,” he said.
One of the recipients, Nur Aisyah Amani Jumairi, a student from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bandar Tasik Selatan, expressed her gratitude for the assistance as she prepares to begin the school session tomorrow.
“Alhamdulillah, this contribution will benefit students who will be sitting for the SPM examination this year, and help ease the burden on parents,” said the younger of two siblings.
Meanwhile, Tan Wen-Yi, a student from SMK Orkid Desa, said the contribution would enable him to purchase reference books for revision purposes.
“I am happy to receive the contribution today, especially as I will be sitting for the SPM this year. I am very grateful for the cash assistance and school supplies,” he said.
