KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- Robotics company AGIBOT has kicked off a series of strategic initiatives it plans to roll out across the Asia-Pacific region in 2026 with a landmark launch event in Malaysia.

AGIBOT founder, chairman and chief executive officer Deng Taihua said the event, held at i-City, Selangor yesterday, reinforced the company’s long-term commitment to building partnerships and advancing automation in Malaysia and across the region.

“AGIBOT made significant strides to improve the mass production and the practical use of embodied robotics last year. This was capped off at the end of last year when we rolled out our 5,000th mass-produced humanoid robot.

“This milestone, along with others, puts AGIBOT in a strong position as we start 2026,” he said in a statement.

The launch event also marked the grand opening of the AI World Experience Centre in i-City, officiated by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang.

The centre was established in partnership with I-Berhad, one of Malaysia’s leading investment and property development companies, and the master developer of i-City.

As part of the strategic alliance, AGIBOT’s robotics and embodied AI technologies will be deployed across property, hospitality, tourism and urban life in i-City, alongside a focus on human wellness and longevity through the application of AI and robotics to improve quality of life.

AGIBOT president for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, Abel Deng, said the opening of the centre concludes the first phase of the partnership, with further developments planned for the coming year as the company expands its embodied robotics ecosystem across the region.

Meanwhile, I-Berhad chairman Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong said the initiative supports Malaysia’s vision to become a regional hub for AI innovation, through integrated development across technology, governance, talent, infrastructure, and investment.

AGIBOT was founded in 2023 with a focus on developing adaptive, learning-capable robots for real-world environments rather than single-purpose machines.

Its product lineup includes the AGIBOT A2 series of full-sized humanoids for guided presentations and showroom environments, and the X2 series of compact humanoids designed for natural interaction, entertainment, research and education.

The portfolio also comprises the G2 series of industrial-grade embodied robots for intelligent manufacturing, the D1 series of high-mobility quadruped robots for inspection and complex operations, and the C5 autonomous commercial floor-care robot for large facilities.

According to Omdia’s General-Purpose Embodied Intelligent Robot 2026 report, AGIBOT ranked No.1 globally in humanoid robot shipments and market share in 2025, shipping over 5,100 units and capturing 39 per cent of the global market.
