KINABATANGAN, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- The Election Commission (EC) today carried out the collection and distribution of voting equipment for 36 polling centres with 117 channels.
Election Commission (EC) commissioner Datuk Sapdin Ibrahim said preparations for the polling day of Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections to be held this Saturday are going smoothly.
"We have divided it into three zones, namely for Kinabatangan parliament and Lamag state constituency equipment is at Sri Lamag Hall, while Kinabatangan parliament equipment for Sukau state constituency is at Kinabatangan District Education Office (PPD) while Kuamut state constituency is at Tongod District Office," he said when met by reporters at the Sri Lamag Hall, here today.
Also present was EC Secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus.
A total of 48,526 registered voters are eligible to vote in the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election and 13,703 voters for the Lamag state seat, this Saturday.
The Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election will see a three-cornered contest between Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar representing Barisan Nasional (BN), Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman (Warisan) and Goldam Hamid (Independent), while the Lamag state seat is a one-on-one contest between Mohd Ismail Ayob (BN) and Mazliwati Abdul Malek (Warisan).
It was held following the death of the incumbent Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, 66, on Dec 5 last year.
