KRABI, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council’s (MAIPs) Akademi Transformasi Asnaf (ATAM) signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with three industry players here to collaborate on efforts to empower the asnaf community in Perlis.

ATAM board member, who is also MAIPs chief executive officer, Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor, said the industry partners involved are Sriphong Farm, Ban Na Teen Social Enterprise, and Boossabakorn Spa and Wellness.

He said Sriphong Farm operates a goat farm, while Ban Na Teen’s entrepreneur is involved in community-based tourism products, including batik and handicrafts.

“For the Krabi region, we have three parties implementing the LoI for cooperation, including in the sharing of skills and training, in addition to tourism,” he told reporters at the MAIPs Ziarah Mahabbah programme to the Andaman region 2026 held here.

Among the focuses of the visit, which took place from Jan 23 to 25 and entered its 11th edition this year, was to sustain ATAM’s collaboration with entrepreneurs and industry players in Krabi by leveraging their expertise.

The delegation was led by the Raja Muda of Perlis, who is also the president of MAIPs, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail. Also in attendance was the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Also participating were members of the ATAM board of directors and Perlis Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAIPs) director Maizura Shamsuddin.

The Andaman region comprises Krabi, Ranong, Phuket, Phang Nga, Trang and Satun.

The strategic collaboration between MAIPs and the Islamic Religious Councils (MAIs) of the six Andaman regions was formalised through a workshop held in conjunction with the ‘Multaqa Ummatan Wahidah’ (One Ummah Gathering) between MAIPs, led by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, and the six MAIs of the Adaman region, on March 14, 2015.
