JPPKK Outlines 13 Pledges Under POLYCC Reform To Face Future TVET Challenges

JASIN, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- The Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK) has outlined 13 commitments to tackle current and future challenges in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Its director-general, Dr Shamsuri Abdullah, said the undertakings must be carried out because this year is a crucial phase for the repositioning of POLYCC (Polytechnics and Community Colleges) through the introduction of the Professional and Technical Education (PTE).

"Among the important commitments put forward are the branding of POLYCC as a pioneer in PTE, empowering community colleges, POLYCC legislation, inculcating the concept of optimisation and mergers, a policy of no student being left behind and intensifying internationalisation.

"These commitments serve as a compass and framework of action that must be implemented by POLYCC staff towards a new direction to elevate TVET's reputation, in line with the practices of developed countries,” he said in a statement today.

He said the pledges are part of JPPKK's transformative agenda through the theme of 'Reformasi POLYCC Memacu Lonjakan TVET Negara', which was launched in conjunction with the Polytechnic and Community College Education (KPKK) Director-General's Aspirations 2026 ceremony at the Merlimau Melaka Polytechnic here yesterday.

He also called on POLYCC staff to be bold in stepping out of their comfort zones and to carry out reforms that are focused, disciplined and fact-based to ensure POLYCC remains the biggest contributor to the country's skilled workforce.
