SIBU, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- A girl, aged six, is missing and feared to have fallen into Sungai Daro in Kampung Panchor, Daro today.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said they received a call about the missing girl at 2.28 pm and a team from the Daro Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location.
“According to the report, the girl had left by herself through the back gate of the house without either parent realising it.
“The father then found the daughter’s footprints heading to the river at about 1 pm and contacted the Fire Department,” the department said in a statement today.
The department launched a search along the riverbanks and the forest behind the girl’s home in a 500-metre radius, aided by villagers in boats going upstream and downstream.
“Operations were suspended at 6 pm and will resume tomorrow morning,” the department added.
