IPOH, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- A total of RM250,000 from the Sumbangan Kasih MADANI charity fund was distributed to 800 students of various ethnicities from 18 schools in the Ipoh Barat parliamentary constituency.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the RM300 cash aid per student aims to ease families’ costs for learning materials and essentials ahead of the Chinese New Year and Ramadan.

He said the initiative, in collaboration with strategic partner Berjaya Cares Foundation, reflects the government’s commitment to public welfare, ensuring no one is left behind.

“Even though it’s Chinese New Year, we also support Malay and Indian communities, as MADANI stands for compassion, mercy, unity, and harmony,” he said.

Nga, who is also Kepayang state assemblyman, spoke to reporters after the Sumbangan Kasih MADANI event at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Bercham today.

Also in attendance were Berjaya Group Berhad executive director Shashitharan Nair, Buntong state assemblywoman M. Thulsi, and Bercham state assemblyman Ong Boon Piow.
