KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- A total of 100 individuals, including orphans, asnaf’s (tithe recipients),and senior citizens from the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency, as well as underprivileged arts practitioners, received contributions through the Ceria Ramadan and Chinese New Year 2026 (CNY 2026) programme here today.

Organised by the Bandar Tun Razak Parliamentary Office in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), the programme aims to ease financial burdens and foster festive spirit ahead of the upcoming celebrations, with recipients receiving cash and basic necessities.

The event was officiated by the Political Secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Azman Abidin, representing Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Also present was FINAS Chairman Datuk Hans Isaac.

In his speech, Azman said the programme exemplifies racial unity by celebrating two major festivals together, demonstrating that diversity is Malaysia’s primary strength and aligns with the Malaysia MADANI aspirations.

He also commended FINAS not only for focusing on the development of the creative industry but also for prioritising welfare, consistent with the role of government agencies to serve the people holistically.

“This initiative manifests the values of prosperity within the Malaysia MADANI framework through social concern and shared responsibility in caring for those in need,” Azman said.

At a press conference later, Hans Isaac said the Ceria Ramadan and Chinese New Year 2026 programme strengthens the welfare aspect of the creative industry and highlights the strategic cooperation between FINAS and the Bandar Tun Razak Parliamentary Office in ensuring aid reaches target groups directly.

“This programme reflects FINAS' ongoing commitment to ensuring that the development of the nation's creative industry does not only focus on economic aspects but also encompasses the welfare and well-being of industry members,” he said.

At the event, the Civil Defence Force (APM) Creative Arts Brigade donated two ambulances. One unit was presented to the Bandar Tun Razak Parliamentary Office for community use, while the other was handed over to the FINAS Industry Members' Affairs, Welfare, and Industry Data Committee for the benefit of creative industry practitioners.

Recipient Jamaludin Mat, 79, expressed gratitude to the parliamentary office and FINAS for their concern, describing the aid as deeply meaningful ahead of Ramadan.

Veteran artiste Louisa Chong, 70, who also received a contribution, said the initiative proves that the welfare of local veteran industry players is not being overlooked.

“Thank you to all parties for providing assistance to local veteran artistes for the upcoming festive season,” she said.
