500 Volunteers To Cook 50 Huge Woks Of Dodol At Melaka’s Mega Raya Event

MELAKA, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- Five hundred volunteers are expected to be involved in cooking 50 huge woks of dodol at the ‘Mega Kacau Dodol Raya 2026’ event, set to take place in front of the Independence Declaration Memorial in Banda Hilir on March 14.

State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said the community event will involve Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB), the Tourism Promotion Division, the Melaka Museum Corporation, Menara Taming Sari and seven local non-governmental organisations, including trishaw and hotel associations.

“The dodol-stirring event aims not just to brighten Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, but also to invite visitors and tourists to join in.

“This year, we’ve increased the number of woks to 50 from 30 last year, thanks to the strong response, and to give more people the chance to join in,” he told reporters today, adding that the traditional sweet treat will be distributed to visitors and tourists, promoting it to international guests and young people.

He said the event is part of Visit Melaka 2.0, showcasing the nation’s cultural diversity through festival celebrations.

Abdul Razak said the event will also host the state’s annual breaking of fast programme by MBMB and Tourism Promotion Division, serving free food and drinks to around 2,000 visitors and tourists.

“This programme celebrates Muslims observing the fast while also including non-Muslims, helping to strengthen bonds between the communities,” he added.
