Communications Ministry, FINAS Continue Supporting Development Of Animation Sector - Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Government remains committed to supporting the development of the national animation sector through initiatives led by the Ministry of Communications and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS).

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said a town hall session will be organised by FINAS after Aidilfitri to further engage with industry players.

In a Facebook post, Fahmi said he had convened a meeting with representatives from FINAS and the Animation Society of Malaysia (ANIMAS) in Putrajaya yesterday to discuss current issues affecting the animation industry.

“It was a productive meeting that allowed us to better understand the challenges faced by animation industry players. Insya-Allah, FINAS will arrange a town hall session after Aidilfitri,” he said.

Fahmi noted that ANIMAS, which has been active since 2007 and has more than 5,000 members nationwide, represents an important and high-potential segment of the film industry, particularly in terms of export opportunities.

Citing the success of the local animated film “Papazola”, he said the production not only grossed more than RM68 million at cinemas nationwide but also received a positive response in Indonesia.

“Insya-Allah, the Ministry of Communications, particularly FINAS, will continue supporting the development of the animation sector,” he said.
