AKPK Launches Aidilfitri Video Highlighting Credit Risks, Financial Discipline

KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (Bernama) -- The Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) has launched a short video in conjunction with Aidilfitri titled ‘Cerminan Jiwa’, highlighting the reality of social pressures and the risks of falling into credit traps when making festive preparations.

The video portrays the dilemma of a head of a family through its main character, ‘Jiwa’, who faces a conflict between meeting lifestyle demands and maintaining long-term financial stability.

In a statement today, AKPK said the video also emphasised the importance of personal responsibility and the courage to reject unreasonable spending to preserve family harmony and peace of mind.

“The video also depicts the domino effect of hasty financial decisions made without proper planning, including dwindling account balances, the risk of being trapped in easy loans and declining productivity,” the statement said.

Acting AKPK chief executive officer Azman Hasim also reminded the public that true financial well-being is achieved through disciplined savings and prudent cash management.

He said the use of temporary credit solutions such as Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) should be done in a controlled and prudent manner to avoid consumers falling into a cycle of debt.

“With wise financial management, spending to celebrate festivities not only brings joy to the family, but also builds a strong financial foundation for the future,” he said.
