KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 (Bernama) -- A 13-year-old girl was found dead at a residence in Sungai Buloh near here yesterday.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said police received information on the victim being found unconscious at 6.27 pm.
He said a medical officer from Sungai Buloh Hospital who arrived at the scene confirmed that the victim had died.
Mohd Hafiz said the body was later taken to the hospital’s Forensic Department for a post-mortem.
“Statements have been recorded from three witnesses and further investigations are ongoing,” he said in a statement tonight.
He said that police have opened an investigation paper under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for alleged abuse, neglect, abandonment or exposure of a child in a manner likely to cause physical or emotional injury.
Members of the public with information on the case are urged to come forward by visiting the nearest police station or contacting investigating officer Insp Muhammad Amirul Amin Shukor at 013-6695290 to assist in the investigation.
