KOTA BHARU, April 4 (Bernama) -- A fire at Kampung Chabang Tiga, Kedai Buloh, here last night affected eight houses.
Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations and Station Management Branch chief Mohd Farid Ismail said that five of the houses were completely destroyed, while the remainder sustained about 10 per cent damage.
“The fire spread to several houses due to their wooden structures and the close proximity between them, estimated at about three feet (0.91 metres) apart,” he told reporters at the scene last night.
He said windy conditions caused the fire to spread rapidly, and firefighters took about an hour to bring it under control.
“Fortunately, the occupants managed to get out of their homes. At the initial stage, we faced difficulty in securing a water supply for firefighting operations, but this was resolved, and five houses were successfully saved from being destroyed,” he said.
