Taekwon-Do Federation Launches Digital Ecosystem For Governance, Competition

KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) today launched a comprehensive digital ecosystem aimed at transforming governance, certification and the competition landscape of the sport in the country.

ITF vice-president Datuk Shakir Husein Kalid said the launch marked a significant milestone for the federation, with a fully integrated digital system introduced to track an athlete’s journey from grassroots to elite level.

“Today is an important day for MTF as we launch a digital ecosystem that tracks an athlete’s progression from white belt level all the way to national team selection,” he told a press conference at the National Sports Institute here today.

He added that the system is capable of recording every aspect of an athlete’s development, including belt level, performance, coaches and competition participation in real time, thus streamlining the selection process for international events.

Shakir said the previous manual system not only raised concerns over integrity and transparency but also made it difficult to track athletes’ data efficiently.

“The system features electronic scoring, live result broadcasting and automatic ranking calculations, which are also used at world-level competitions.

“With this digital system, we can enhance integrity, transparency, traceability and data referencing, while avoiding issues such as fake certificates or inaccurate information,” he said.

Shakir added that the development of the system was supported by a government matching grant of RM65,000, which helped cover part of the software development costs.
