KOTA BHARU, April 12 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Kelantan has released four police personnel on bail after they were remanded to assist in an investigation into soliciting and accepting bribes amounting to about RM12,000.

The four are understood to be attached to a district police headquarters in the state.

According to a source, the suspects allegedly sought and received the bribe in return for not taking legal action against an individual found carrying ketum leaves in a vehicle.

“All four were remanded for five days from April 7 and were released after the remand period ended yesterday.

“The MACC is now completing the investigation papers for submission to the deputy public prosecutor for further action,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Kelantan MACC director Azmin Yusoff, when contacted, confirmed the matter.

He said the suspects were released on MACC bail and are required to report to the state MACC office monthly.
