KOTA BHARU, April 14 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Kelantan Darulnaim has channelled welfare assistance of RM250 to each student affected by the hostel fire at Sekolah Menengah Ugama (A) Darul Ulum Muhammadiah, Kolam, Pak Bado, Bachok, last Sunday.
Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said the assistance aimed to ease the burden on students and help meet their immediate needs.
“Condolences are extended to the families of the students, as well as the teachers and school administrators over the incident. However, the incident did not involve any loss of life or serious injuries, which is a relief to all parties,” he said in a statement today.
Media previously reported that three blocks of the school were destroyed in the fire, involving permanent structures, with one of them almost completely razed. The school, established in 1990, has 251 students, of whom 112 reside in the hostel.
