SHAH ALAM, April 29 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government has outlined five resolutions to assist 45,993 women entrepreneurs in addressing current challenges arising from the global supply crisis.
State Executive Councillor (Exco) for Women Development and Social Welfare Anfaal Saari said the resolutions were reached during Roundtable Discussion 2 (RTD), themed “West Asia Crisis - Impact on Entrepreneurs and Women’s Economic Empowerment”, organised by state subsidiary Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS) at the Selangor State Secretariat Building this morning.
Anfaal said the RTD served, among others, to discuss current impacts and mitigation strategies related to the crisis on entrepreneurs and women’s economic empowerment.
“The RTD serves as a strategic platform to examine current challenges faced by the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including rising operating costs, disruptions in global supply chains, and pressures on the sustainability of women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs),” she said at a press conference at the Selangor State Assembly Lobby here today.
The five resolutions include ecosystem integration and a centralised entrepreneur portal, transformation of work culture through family-friendly practices, and smart digitalisation.
In addition, mastery of artificial intelligence (AI) in navigating global uncertainties forms the fourth resolution, while the fifth focuses on impact assessment through rapid needs surveys and a shift from a subsidy-based economy to a sustainable and resilient economic model.
Elaborating further, Anfaal said the RTD also focused on structural challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, including access to growth financing, high-value markets, digital gaps, and the ability to scale up businesses.
“At the same time, emphasis was placed on strengthening cross-agency collaboration in financing, training, capacity building, digital empowerment and business innovation to ensure more sustainable economic resilience.
“Proposals and input gathered from this session will serve as a reference for the Selangor government in formulating comprehensive, gender-responsive and high-impact policy approaches, particularly in strengthening the women and youth entrepreneurship ecosystem,” she said.
