KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- One of the 22 vessels in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 (GSF 2.0) humanitarian mission, intercepted by Israeli forces in international waters en route to Gaza, has re-established contact as of 7pm.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the vessel, identified as TamTam, had earlier lost contact for more than 10 hours after its communication equipment and engine were reportedly sabotaged.
He, who is also MADANI Government spokesperson, said this after receiving a detailed briefing from Sumud Nusantara Control Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby.
“The government strongly condemns the actions of the Zionist regime in international waters, especially as the incident involves 10 Malaysians,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Fahmi said the Communications Ministry would continue to monitor media reporting to ensure accurate and verified information is disseminated to the public.
He also urged the public to refer to official sources, particularly SNCC, government agencies and mainstream media, to avoid confusion and the spread of misinformation.
Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Hasan also condemned the actions against the mission and called on Muslims to offer prayers for the safety of all activists involved.
Earlier, SNCC confirmed that six of the 22 vessels intercepted in international waters while heading to Gaza involved 10 Malaysians.
Sani Araby said they are Zainal Rashid Ahmad (Arkham III); Osman Zolkifli and Dr Jihan Alya Mohd Nordin (Eros 1); Hazwan Hazim Dermawan, Mohd Hanafi Mohd Salim, Ahmad Musa Al-Nuwayri Kamaruzaman and Norhelmi Ab Ghani (Bianca BCN); Mohd Redzal Amzah (Freia); Muhamad Muhsin Zaidi (Marea) and Mohd Shamsir Mohd Isa (Esplai II).
