KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs secretary-general (sec-gen) Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin and the Grand Imam of Kelantan Dr. Muhammad Hana Pizi Abdullah were awarded the National Worker Figure Award for Public Service, in conjunction with the National Workers’ Day celebration, themed "MADANI Workers, Pride of the Nation," here today.
Amran received the National Employee Icon Award (Top Management Group) while Muhammad Hana received the National Employee Icon Award (Management and Professional Group).
The National Worker Figure Award for Public Service (Implementation Group) went to National Youth Skills Institute (IKTBN) assistant vocational training officer Dr. N Thinakaran, while Wasiyyah Shoppe Bhd chief executive officer Ariffin Sabirin received the Executive Worker Award, and Aerospace Technology System Corp’s Sayyidatul Aisyah Sulaiman received the Employee Figure Award (Non-Executive).
The Employee of the Year (PWD) award was given to Muhammad Adib Ibrahim, the Best National Employer Award (Large Company/GLC) was awarded to Telekom Malaysia (TM), and the Best National Employer Award (SME) was given to Green Resource Recovery Sdn Bhd.
Meanwhile, the Best National Trade Union Award (Public Sector) was given to the Sarawak Teacher's Union, the Best National Trade Union Award (Private Sector) was given to The Union of Pos Malaysia Berhad Uniformed Staff (UPUS), and the Best National Trade Union Award (Statutory Body) was given to the RISDA Workers' Union of Peninsular Malaysia (KPPRSM).
Meanwhile, STAR Media Group’s Terrence Tan Jian Wai received the Best Media Award (Individual) while the Best Media Award (Agency) was given to the Department of Broadcasting Malaysia (RTM). and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) received the Best Contingent Award.
All recipients in the 14 categories each took home RM10,000 in cash along with a plaque of appreciation.
Workers’ Day, celebrated every May 1, serves as a platform to appreciate the significant contributions of the country's workforce, as well as to strengthen the career ecosystem through the provision of job opportunities and skill development.
